52 Weeks To Preparedness – Week 34

As technology sweeps through every facet of our lives, changes are occurring so rapidly that it can be difficult for us to keep our lives in balance. To maintain some semblance of stability in our lives, it is essential that we plan for our future. L. Tom Perry

Emergency Car Kit:

Add in a couple of extra blankets if you haven’t already. Add a whistle, flashlights, and a pocket knife of sorts. You never know when you will need one. Make sure the batteries in your flashlight are fresh.

How is your car kit? Get it ready for the winter months as soon as you can. You will need some extra food in it, similar to your 72 hour kit, but nothing that can’t freeze. Think of what you might need for your family to carry, in case of a winter storm. Last winter we ended up travelling several hours through a really crazy winter storm and we saw in a matter of 3 hours, 28 cars stranded in the ditches. Plan and prepare accordingly so you are never caught unprepared. It may be awhile you are sitting in a storm before help can arrive. Have some puzzle books, yummy treats, beef jerky, candy, or granola bars kind of things.

Financial Preparedness:

Add a little bit of cash to your 72 hour emergency kit. Specifically for that kit. After a disaster the power might be out and all electronic transactions would not be possible. Cash would be great to have. Most stores will not be able to make change easily, so have small bills or coins such as $1, $2, $5 amounts.

Food Preparedness:

Ask yourself what would the Lord have you do. Perhaps ask more specifically, how He could help you obtain your food storage. He will answer and give you ideas you have never thought of yet. Every time I have asked for help regarding food storage and preparedness, the answers have come very clearly on exactly what I was supposed to do. Keep asking yourself what the Lord would have you do to get prepared, and then you have to listen for the answer and act immediately when you receive it. You will find amazing opportunities and blessing come your way.

Happy and Healthy Prepping
